Gifting your Gift

How often do I wish I could buy my family and friends all they wanted for Christmas. I did what I could for my children and other family members, but found it hard finding gifts for friends.
I then realized I possessed a gift and talent I could share. Years ago, I began asking friends their favorite animal, I would then draw it and presented it as a Christmas gift. It was met with great appreciation and I felt, well …pleased.
I sure have not limited it to the holidays, ever so often I would see pictures my friends post on Facebook and one would just “speak” to me. There is a great amount of joy that comes with drawing a portrait.
Yes, art is a small business venture for me, yet periodically  gifting my gift comes with a great sense of satisfaction.  Whatsoever God has blessed you with share !

Back in the Studio..Finally!!

It has been a while since I sat down seriously in the studio.  Know what, I missed it, even though I spent a lot of time taking pictures and capturing scenes I know will end up on a  canvas.
There is a great sense of accomplishment, holding a pencil or a brush making lines or strokes and the  final outcome is an image for others to appreciate. I am inspired, here goes!

Pencil Drawings

I am often asked to see the original pictures I use for my pencil drawings, in the event I have one. I will look around and try to post more of them.

Observing a Lot

Once in a while I take a long break from drawing, or painting and just simply observe. Whether through my camera lense, sketching, or just looking intently at objects.  At times I work with the changing seasons, winter months I am somewhat dormant and observe the most, spring I come alive and get excited about the abundance of newlife and color. The summer months continues the vibrance, excitement and colors in full bloom, my favorite is the fall, there are colors everywhere, beautiful hues and earthtones and let’s not forget the enticing aromas.

The Creative Interruptions!

When Roses Bloom

The WIP of "When Roses Bloom"

I don’t know about any other artists, but for me in the middle of  drawing or painting, I get stuck! Yes stuck! Not that I don’t know what to do or the creative direction to take it, I sort of lose the umph to finish due to “interruptions”.   A year ago I completed (painting) a piece I began 2 yrs prior. Someone reading this may think I am not a dedicated or passionate artist, that is not the case.    Life! Yes I am a full time artist and a part time every thing else and when those things call I have to jump and ask how high.  My ultimate dream is to be able to just do art and manage my two charities. Until then, I will find myself stuck and jumping  a few times.
