Currently on the easel an inspiration which is taking longer than expected. While viewing a YouTube documentary on Livingston a mask used on enslaved women was showcased. I then thought as a woman all the restrictions and afflictions that was placed on me throughout my life to silence me; they were definitely masks and I had to act accordingly. I grew up hearing children must be seen and not heard, it took me a long time to realize I was no longer a child, I could and should speak.
I am creating this piece to evoke thoughts and promote conversation to remove our masks and liberate our thinking.
