Looking forward to Fall

As the summer winds down ( I know it came late for us here in New England) and fall approaches, I am looking forward to my favorite time of the year. The cool, crip mornings, the color splash of bright reds, oranges, yellows and various hues on the trees. The variety of blooms  of chyrsantemums, road side stalls of honey and harvest produce.  The texture of gourds, squash, pumpkins, acorns, I look forward to  the crunches of the leaves under my footsteps, and the crackling sounds as squirrels hurries about gathering nuts I am look forward to all of these. The beautiful sunsets then give rise to a full bright tawny havest moon. Everything  about the smell, sounds,  sights and textures of fall stimulates me creatively.
I am looking forward to roving with my camera this fall and find scenes to that will be frozen forever , and each time they are viewed, I can say, “I remember when.”  For my audience, may their words be, ” I want to be there.”

Just a thought!

100_1401The words of another is not missed until they are no longer around, and  can say no more. We then ask the question, “I wonder what they were trying to say”,  followed by an everlasting debate of what it could be.  We hear without listening, and  often allow the noise of opinions to condition us to selective hearing.
Similar with an artist, their work is seen, but they are not missed until they are  no loner around to create. We then ask the question, “I wonder what they were trying to say.” followed by the everlasting debate of what  it could be. We see without insight, and allow the multiple images we view, to repress what could be deemed  important.

Under the Maple tree,

I had a barbecue in the backyard, it was my daughter’s 19th birthday, we just sat around, grilled, relaxed, and  I took some pictures of her and the surroundings. Well she does not want me to post her pictures, but I will post the surroundings. The simplest things can make a great or interesting photograph.

The Creative Interruptions!

When Roses Bloom

The WIP of "When Roses Bloom"

I don’t know about any other artists, but for me in the middle of  drawing or painting, I get stuck! Yes stuck! Not that I don’t know what to do or the creative direction to take it, I sort of lose the umph to finish due to “interruptions”.   A year ago I completed (painting) a piece I began 2 yrs prior. Someone reading this may think I am not a dedicated or passionate artist, that is not the case.    Life! Yes I am a full time artist and a part time every thing else and when those things call I have to jump and ask how high.  My ultimate dream is to be able to just do art and manage my two charities. Until then, I will find myself stuck and jumping  a few times.

Work in Progress (WIP) “Roots & Branches”

Further WIP of "Roots & Branches"

I have never blogged on WIPs, but there is always a first time for everything. As with all art work, words conjure up images, Roots & Branches” did just that.
Here I have looked at  the phrase in terms of how we are as human in our diversity, and migration.
Absolutely no one  on this planet is  indigenous to the area we currently are, should we trace our family tree, there was migration to some extent, whether continental,  local, or regional, we all follow the “herd”. You may have lived on main st, somewhere all your life, and have been there with your parents, but check  to see how your grandparents, got there.  Maybe by foot, horse drawn buggy, boat, car, or plane, yes we are all scattered seeds with a connection.
We migratre, marry inter-racially, combine cultures, customs,  ethnic traditions, and religious beliefs which produces diversity.
This is the first in a two part painting of  “Roots & Branches”, comments are welcome.
