No Man is an Island

As a young girl in high school, and boarding school I recalled singing this song in assembly

“No man is an island, no man stands alone
Each man`s joy is joy to me
Each man`s grief is my own
We need one another, so I will defend
Each man as my brother
Each man as my friend”

Some wildflower I captured while roving with my camera

It meant nothing to me then, but as I got older the words resonated in more ways than one. Artists or creative people, tend to have quirks not many will understand. I have often said ” I walk alone”…and I enjoy being alone.  To my mother ( now deceased), I am an introvert, yes, I like to go off in that place where no one else is allowed, and then bring something beautiful out. I can be a social butterfly when I want (but honestly, then I feel like I am on a stage, so it does not happen often)
Over the years I realized I am not an island…..Think for a moment about an island, it is surround by water, but under the surface it is connected to a greater mass of land, (the earth) though seemingly isolated it is connected.
We may stand alone as an island but we are part of something greater.

Hmm..What’s Next!!

concept drawing

example, seated at work this came to mind...we will see where goes from here..

I have been asked the question, if I have ever ran out ideas to create…Hmm, no..my hands are not fast enough for my mind. There is so much that goes on mentally, at times I get overwhelmed. In such a case I step back, write it down, sketch, or go out with my camera. I love the creative process, it is something I have learned to become one with. At times I am seated at my desk at work, or in a meeting (yeah those board (bored) meetings) and something comes to mind. That note taking sessions become a time for great ideas. At times I sketch the speaker. I have an undying love affair with art, it will always shine through….
